It can be so easy to get lost in the numbers and jargon of Facebook Insights. Relax. With a few top hints, you can use these insights to optimise your Facebook Page to reach more people and better engage your audience.
1. Know your objectives - not everything is relevant.
It can be easy to be keenly watching what feels important - usually: page likes and post shares. The best first step, is to decide what you want from your Facebook Page. Think about your page's purpose. Are you trying to drive sales? Build brand awareness? Engage your audience? Once you've nailed this - you can start to decipher which of these numbers are relevant.
We call these priorities, "Key Performance Indicators" (KPIs)
2. Set realistic goals
It's very rare that you create something that might 'go viral' overnight. so it's important to properly manage your expectations. Look at what sort of numbers your page is getting and set some goals to grow your KPIs. It's also worth having a look at your competition to see how you compare.
Finding these starting points is called, "Benchmarking"
But don't aim low, aim straight. Set your eyes above what you're already achieving, and keep experimenting until you get there!
3. Test your page
One of the best things your insights can give you is a better understanding of your audience. Look out for what types of content engage your audience best. Think about experimenting with: post length, including media, excluding media, links to articles/blogs, using video, sharing other page posts. Once you get an idea of what types of post are best for you and your following, drill deeper!
Your audience like video? Long or short? With text or without? Pictures performing best? With people or without? Plainer product images or products in use?
You might try putting the same information in more than one format and use this as a direct comparison.
This process is called "A/B Testing"
